Virginia led the Southeast in a national ranking of green building practices for affordable housing.
Global Green USA, a national environmental organization, gave Virginia an A- rating in 2013 for green building practices promoted through each state’s plans for allocating low-income housing tax credits.
The Virginia Housing Development Authority said the high ranking is attributable to its commitment to using the EarthCraft multifamily green building certification program as part of its tax-credit program.
Virginia received an A- rating in 2012 as well.
